A row has erupted after some civic bodies in India ordered slaughterhouses and meat shops to remain shut on August 15. "What's the connection between eating meat and celebrating Independence Day...[such] bans violate people's right," MP Asaduddin Owaisi said on Hyderabad civic body's directive. Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar also criticised the order by some civic bodies in the state.
