There are four different types of Kumbh Melas- Purna (complete) Kumbh, Ardh (half) Kumbh, Kumbh Mela and Maha (Great) Kumbh Mela. Kumbh Mela is held every three years while Maha Kumbh Mela takes place once every 12 years and is the festival's rarest and most sacred incarnation. The upcoming Maha Kumbh will be held from January 13 to February 26.
