The 2025 Nobel Prize for Physics recognised experiments that demonstrated quantum tunnelling and quantised energy levels "in a system big enough to be held in the hand". These experiments were conducted with an electronic circuit built of superconductors, held in a chip about a centimetre in size. Previously, these had been studied in systems that had just a few particles.
