South Korea's fertility rate rose for first time in nine years in 2024. The country rolled out various measures to encourage young people to get married and have children. It also announced a plan to create a new ministry devoted to tackling low birth rates. Marriages jumped 14.9% in 2024, the biggest spike since data was first released in 1970.
