The couple was murdered on November 17, 2015, inside the Chittoor Municipal Corporation office. The assailants, disguised in burqas, attacked them with knives, daggers, and firearms. Anuradha was shot in her chamber, while her husband Mohan, who tried to intervene, was also killed. Police said the attack stemmed from long-standing family and political disputes.
