Scientists have said asteroid Bennu has a one-in-2,700 chance of hitting Earth in 2182. They predicted the impact would generate a powerful shockwave, earthquakes, wildfires and thermal radiation, leave a gaping crater and eject huge amounts of debris upward. The impact would inject 100-400 million tons of dust into the atmosphere, which would cause an abrupt global impact winter.
