Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Apple CEO Tim Cook reportedly competed to hire and retain two IIT engineers Srinivasan Venkatachary and Anand Shukla. While Venkatachary holds a BTech degree from IIT-Madras, Shukla studied BTech from IIT-Kanpur. The duo had co-founded a machine learning startup called Laserlike along with another Google engineer Steven Baker, which was later acquired by Apple.
