Divya Deshmukh, the first-ever Indian to win Women's Chess World Cup, was born on December 9, 2005 in Maharashtra's Nagpur. She started playing chess aged five and won Under-7 and Under-9 National Championships, followed by world Under‑10 and Under‑12 youth titles. She became WIM, WGM and IM in 2018, 2021 and 2023, respectively. She's a three-time gold medalist at Olympiad.
