Tanushree, a native of Motihari became an IPS in first attempt with an AIR 652 after leaving job at RBI. She got married while preparing for her UPSC CSE exam but managed her household while acing the exam. She was inspired by her father who served as a DIG in CRPF. Tanushree has served as the SSP in Shopian.
