Maithili Thakur, a folk and classical singer from Benipatti in Bihar's Madhubani district, comes from a musical family. Trained by her father and grandfather, she sings in Maithili, Bhojpuri, and Hindi. Honoured with the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar and named Bihar's state icon, she gained national fame after PM Modi praised her devotional song on Maa Shabri.
