Parag Jain, who has been appointed as the new R&AW chief, is a 1989-batch IPS officer (Punjab cadre). He earlier served as SSP Chandigarh and DIG Ludhiana, and is currently heading the Aviation Research Centre. He was also posted in Jammu and Kashmir, where he handled counter-terror operations, and has reportedly held diplomatic intelligence roles in Canada and Sri Lanka.
