Millions of federal workers won't get paid during the US government shutdown, however, lawmakers will continue to receive their salaries because their pay is protected under Article I, Section 6 of the Constitution. More than 13,000 air traffic controllers would continue working, but without pay. Around two million US military personnel would remain at their posts without pay.
