Valmik Thapar, who passed away on Saturday, dedicated his life to wildlife preservation, especially tigers in Ranthambore National Park. Popularly called India's 'tiger man', the 73-year-old co-founded Ranthambore Foundation for community-based conservation efforts and was a member of UPA government's Tiger Task Force. Thapar studied at The Doon School and graduated from St Stephen's College.
