Thousands of farmers and several BJP leaders in Karnataka are protesting against the commencement of work on the controversial Hemavati River Link Canal project in Tumakuru district. Protesters allege that the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government is trying to divert Tumakuru's share of water to the Ramanagara region. They've vowed not to allow their rightful share of water to be taken away.
