Though sloths are slow, they are considered one of the smartest survivors in the wild. They conserve energy through slow movements and a low-calorie leaf diet supported by efficient metabolism. Their algae-covered fur camouflages them, while strong claws and locking tendons secure them on treetops during long hours of sleep. Moreover, their swimming ability also helps them evade predators.
