A President of the United States can't serve more than two terms due to the 22nd Amendment, which was ratified on February 27, 1951. It established a formal two-term limit on US Presidents. Franklin D Roosevelt was the only US President to serve four terms from 1932-1945. He remained US President during the Great Depression and World War II.
