Sensex gained around 1,300 points and Nifty hit record high on Friday after falling for five consecutive sessions. Benchmark indices gained as a result of investors buying the dip after the Union Budget, combined with a rally in IT and metal stocks. A rise in index heavyweights like Reliance Industries, Wipro, and Bharti Airtel also helped lift the indices higher.
