Why do diamonds come in different colours?

Diamonds, which are made of carbon, form beneath Earth's surface, where extreme pressure and temperature bind carbon atoms into a tight lattice. Like other minerals, diamonds can acquire impurities, elements other than carbon that enter the structure. Nitrogen can create yellow or orange diamonds, boron produces striking blue ones, and radiation can turn them green, an expert said.
