Why do F1 cars spark?
short by Anmol Sharma / on 21 Jul 2025,Monday
F1 cars spark when titanium skid blocks under the chassis hit the track surface as the car bottoms out at high speed. These blocks are embedded in a wooden plank beneath the car. As aerodynamic forces push the car down, the blocks scrape the asphalt, creating sparks while protecting the plank from damage.
