Why do pilots avoid flying into clouds?

According to ALPA India General Secretary Captain Anil Rao, pilots avoid flying through clouds because they "can hide storms, ice, turbulence, and poor visibility". Big clouds may have strong winds and air currents moving in different directions, which may cause turbulence. In cold clouds, water droplets may freeze on the plane adding weight and disrupting airflow, affecting its control.
