Tesla launched Model Y in India on Tuesday, pricing the rear wheel drive edition for a starting ex-showroom cost of ₹59.89 lakh (nearly $69,800). This is nearly twice the ex-showroom starting price in the US, where it's sold for $37,490 (about ₹32.17 lakh). This is primarily because of India's steep import duties, ranging from 70% to 100% of vehicle cost.
