Why don't birds get electrocuted on wires?
short by Ankush Verma / on 04 Aug 2025,Monday
When a bird lands on a single power line, both of its feet are on the same wire and at the same electric potential. Since electricity only flows when there's a potential difference, no current passes through the bird's body. However, if a bird touches a live wire and another wire (or grounded object) simultaneously, it will be electrocuted.
