Why have shuttlecock prices risen?

Prices of high-quality shuttlecocks have risen rapidly over the past several months, due to a shift in Chinese palate, which now favours pork to the old staple, duck meat, The Indian Express reported. Fewer ducks are being raised, leading to shortage of feathers to make shuttles. AS-2 shuttle prices have gone up from ₹1,200/12-piece tube in 2024 to ₹2,700 now.
