A 6.0-magnitude earthquake in Afghanistan killed over 1,400 people. India and Afghanistan are among the top countries prone to earthquakes. The primary cause of earthquakes is the ongoing collision between Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates. Afghanistan is situated on top of a number of fault lines where Indian and Eurasian plates meet, leading to significant tectonic activity in the region.
