Garba traces its origin to the Sanskrit word “Garbha”, meaning womb, symbolising life, creation, and the divine feminine. The circular movement in Garba reflects the Hindu philosophy of cyclical time, birth, death, and rebirth. At the centre, diya symbolises Devi Durga. As people dance around it, the ritual becomes a metaphor for life revolving around the eternal source.
