Government is planning to limit air conditioners' (AC) temperature range to 20°C-28°C to push for sustainable energy usage. This comes in view of expanding urban Indian middle class and increasing AC usage, which is causing electricity consumption to surge during peak summer months. Low AC temperatures put extra pressure on power grids and increase emissions from coal-fired power plants.
