India is facing a historic shortage of silver amid a market frenzy fuelled by the festive season, particularly Dhanteras, which sees massive buying spree across India. The spree began during Akshaya Tritya, when multiple social media influencers advised followers to buy silver, claiming it has 100-to-1 ratio to gold. The spree also coincided with a Chinese holiday, further curbing supply.
