Rabies is a zoonotic, viral disease affecting central nervous system. Once clinical symptoms appear, rabies is fatal in 100% of cases, said WHO. Rabies deaths are preventable with prompt post exposure prophylaxis (PEP) by stopping virus from reaching central nervous system. If a person is bitten/scratched by a potentially rabid animal, they should immediately and always seek PEP care.
