For years, it was believed that Gilbert Jessop's 76-ball blitz in Ashes 1902 was the fastest Test hundred for England. However, he might have scored quicker. Writing for The Times, Simon Wilde claimed that neither of the two official scorebooks has survived. Even if they had, they almost certainly didn't feature "linear scoring", leading to a lack of verifiable information.
