A NEIGRIHMS study has revealed that only 20% of esophageal cancer patients in Meghalaya complete treatment, despite the state having one of India's highest cancer burdens. Financial hardship, long stays in Shillong, severe side effects, and poor nutrition force many to abandon therapy midway, worsening survival chances.
