Why skipping your daily cup of tea may trigger headache
short by Dr. Sarthak Dave / on 26 Jun 2025,Thursday
Dr Sarthak Dave says regular tea consumption introduces caffeine, which blocks adenosine receptors in the brain, keeping us alert, and causes vasoconstriction in brain blood vessels. When tea is suddenly stopped, caffeine withdrawal leads to vasodilation, increasing blood flow and triggering headaches. It also causes upregulation of adenosine receptors, resulting in drowsiness and sluggishness.
