A study published in The Lancet Regional Health – Southeast Asia reveals that the region now faces both “too little, too late” for women who lack access to medically necessary interventions and “too much, too soon” for those receiving unnecessary surgical deliveries. These figures far exceed the WHO’s recommended threshold of 10-15 percent for population-level caesarean rates.
