A BSF soldier’s suicide highlights the growing threat of mental health disorders among central forces. The BSF, instead of showing empathy, has initiated “invalidation proceedings” against around 300 personnel assessed with psychiatric conditions. At least 175 border guards, including four women, have lost their lives to suicides and fratricides in five years.
