The Supreme Court criticised the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government over plans to install a statue of former CM and DMK leader Karunanidhi using public funds. The court said, "Why are you using public funds to glorify your former leaders?" It asked the state government to withdraw its plea and approach the Madras High Court for appropriate relief.
