The government has reduced the windfall tax on petroleum crude to zero from ₹1,850 per metric ton, effective September 18. This is the second time since the windfall tax was imposed that it has been cut to zero. The move comes amid a significant decline in global crude prices. Benchmark Brent crude prices have fallen to below $75 a barrel.
