The Waratah Super Battery, said to be the world's most powerful battery, has powered up in Australia's New South Wales. The 850-MW/1,680-MWh battery switched on the first 350-MW/700-MWh of its capacity, which is now acting as "shock absorber" for the NSW grid in the event of outages. The battery is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2025.
