The world's newest island has been formed off the coast of the Japanese island of Iwo Jima in the Pacific Ocean following an undersea volcanic eruption around 1,200 km south of Tokyo. The unnamed undersea volcano started its latest series of eruptions on October 21. According to a Japan Meteorological Agency analyst, the island may not last very long.
