Shilpa Panchangamath, a 27-year-old techie who was found dead inside her house in Bengaluru, was taunted over her skin colour by her mother-in-law, her family alleged. "You are dark and not a good match for my son. Leave him, we will find him a better bride," the mother-in-law allegedly said. Shilpa's family said she was harassed for dowry.
