The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has said that the exchange or deposit of ₹2,000 banknotes will not be done on Monday, April 1, 2024, at its 19 issue offices across the country. This temporary halt is due to operations linked with the annual closing of accounts. The facility will resume on Tuesday, April 2, according to the RBI's announcement.
