Karnataka High Court has ordered the state government to pay ₹10 lakh to chess player and MBBS student Sanjana Raghunath for denying her admission under sports quota. She argued she was placed in the wrong category, despite winning a medal at Asian Youth Championship. The court observed that the state committed a serious error, which caused serious hardship to her.
