A satellite image shows ash rising from the eruption of the Hayli Gubbi volcano in Ethiopia as it drifted over the Red Sea on November 23. The ash cloud had reached the Indian subcontinent by 11 pm on Monday and is now moving towards China. Directorate General of Civil Aviation on Monday asked airlines to strictly avoid volcanic ash–affected areas.
