A 12-year-old boy allegedly died by suicide after a shopkeeper accused him of stealing chips, publicly slapped him and made him do sit-ups in West Bengal's Paschim Medinipur. The boy's mother had also scolded and slapped him at the spot, even as he claimed he picked the packet from a heap and would have paid later. An investigation is underway.
