Former Punjab DGP Mohammad Mustafa's son Aqil Akhtar, who was allegedly murdered by Mustafa, had accused his family of labelling him as mentally unstable and sending him to a rehabilitation centre against his will. "They threatened me that if I take any step against them, they'll get me framed in a rape or a murder case," Akhtar had said.
