Justice Surya Kant will take oath as 53rd Chief Justice of India on November 24, succeeding BR Gavai. A Supreme Court judge since 2019, he was involved in key cases including Article 370, sedition law and Pegasus. Born in Haryana’s Hisar, he earlier served as Himachal Pradesh HC Chief Justice. His term as CJI will end on February 9, 2027.
