They stop the body from attacking its own tissues, preventing autoimmune diseases, and regulate responses to allergens and infections. Thymus gland produces regulatory T cells. Mary Brunkow, Fred Ramsdell, and Shimon Sakaguchi won the 2025 Nobel Prize for discovering Tregs.
