US and Dublin-headquartered fintech company Stripe accidentally emailed an image of a cartoon duck to employees when notifying them that they had been laid off. The image, attached as a PDF in the layoff email, showed a yellow duck and accompanying text that said, "US-Non-California Duck". Stripe laid off 300 employees and also emailed them an incorrect termination date.
