Scientists are working on a universal antivenom to counter snake bites. Venoms, containing up to 70 toxins from 10 protein families, often share common structures. Researchers used antibodies from blood to neutralise venom from 19 elapid species, fully protecting against 13. Findings suggest universal antivenom could be a reality, but experts say region-specific combinations may be more practical.
