The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has filed complaints against 81 unauthorised schools within its jurisdiction and has registered FIRs registered against 68 of them. The 81 schools have more than 19,000 students. The highest number of unauthorised schools, 65, are concentrated in Diva ward, enrolling 16,437 students. TMC working towards relocating them to recognised institutions.
