Bombay High Court ruled that a Muslim man is allowed to register multiple marriages as per their personal laws, while hearing the case of a Muslim man who was denied a certificate for his third marriage by Thane civic body. It said the refusal was "wholly misconceived". It also noted that the authorities had "ironically" allowed his second marriage.
