Scientists have uncovered Australia's oldest crocodile eggshells belonging to the mekosuchine species in Queensland. These tree-hunting crocodiles, which lived 55 million years ago and grew up to five metres long, were capable of hunting from trees. Researchers say they disappeared about 3,000 years ago, likely due to drying habitats, competition with other predators, and a decline in prey.
